This runoff election is crucial for the future of the city. It is an opportunity for Idaho Falls to choose a future-focused mayor. I urge all my friends and supporters in Idaho Falls to vote for Lisa Burtenshaw for Mayor on December 2nd.

As long-time residents of Idaho Falls, my wife Kathy and I care deeply about the future of our city. That’s why we are supporting Lisa Burtenshaw for mayor. I have had the opportunity to work with Lisa, including successfully helping to secure federal funding for the airport expansion. She has the knowledge, experience and commitment required to lead our city effectively.

I wholeheartedly endorse Lisa Burtenshaw for Mayor of Idaho Falls. Lisa has been involved with various endeavors in the community for years. She has proven herself to be a hard worker and one who will study out the issues at hand. She is not swayed by popular opinion or peer pressure. She does her research and makes the right decision. Lisa provides invaluable leadership on policy issues and knows how to effectively work with the city’s budget. Lisa is a woman of dedication and integrity. I have no doubt that Idaho Falls will continue to thrive with Lisa Burtenshaw serving as our next mayor.

Experience matters when it comes to running a city. Lisa Burtenshaw has the experience and the ability to do the work. 

For 27 years, I taught American heritage, history, and political science to college students in Rexburg and later served in our state legislature. I know from history and my experience why it's so important for Idaho Falls to have a mayor who understands how to deal with the rapid change facing our community.

The Lisa Burtenshaw I have worked with on county issues embodies this quote. She has built relationships with county officials and recognizes that when the city and county work together, taxpayers win.

She has been a change agent for multiple stalled projects with the county.

Lisa understands the importance of agriculture and has supported infill within city boundaries to avoid unnecessary sprawl.

Her resume' shows depth of relevant experience and real familiarity with this community. She is prepared for the challenging job of being chief administrator of the city on day one. In my opinion, she is the best prepared to meet the opportunity immediately and make the city successful.

Most recently, she co-chaired the Frontier Center (formerly Civic Center) capital campaign which raised almost $6 million from private sources to triple the facility’s lobby and add decent ADA compliant rest rooms. Those funds saved us taxpayers considerable construction expenses and are giving the community a much improved community gathering space.

She takes the time to listen and build the necessary relationships to effectively advocate for the residents of Idaho Falls.  She understands the challenges local businesses face and brings practical, no-nonsense leadership to the table. I had the privilege of serving alongside Lisa Burtenshaw on the District 91 school board during a time of major change and investment in our community. Together, we helped lead the effort to move 9th graders to the high school and build a project based school opportunity.  We rebuilt four elementary schools, an undertaking that required vision, fiscal responsibility, and an unwavering commitment to students and families.
